Transportation

Let us know about changes in transportation. Here's information about buses, car riders, walkers

KISS AND RIDE/WALKERS (8:55-9:10 a.m./3:55-4:05 p.m.)

Fairview’s Kiss and Ride is located at the back of the building at Door 3. Cars should enter the school driveway from Burke Centre Parkway. Walkers should enter the school at the entrance closest to the playground Door 5. The Route 123 entrance is reserved for buses only.

Children Going Home a Different Way (i.e. Kiss & Ride vs Bus):

Please, Please, Please do everything you can to remember to send in a note with your child in the morning indicating the change. If this is not possible, a parent/guardian MUST notify the school prior to 3:30 p.m. on that day. Please email the change to  [email protected] . Otherwise, children will need to go home their normal way. (Again, this is due to our significantly reduced office staffing). In cases of emergency, we will hold children here at school until a parent can come to pick them up. This will ensure the safety of our students.

Child going home with another student: BOTH children MUST present a note from a parent indicating this change

Child being picked up by a friend or relative: We must have a signed note from the parent indicating the full name of the friend or relative. Please add this friend or relative to the list of people permitted to pick up your child (Emergency Care Card)

KISS AND RIDE AFTERNOON PICK-UP

All families who use KISS AND RIDE on a regular basis will be issued 2-3 number tags (1 for each family vehicle) which should be hung from your rear view mirror. Cars should pull up around the circle beginning closest to Door 3. Our staff will call students by the number listed on your hanging tag. New this year, our students will be exiting the building from Door 2 in the afternoon and will walk to your car.

BUS RIDERS

FCPS provides bus transportation for students who reside more than a mile from school or would have a dangerous route to walk to school. Bus riders should refrain from crossing or playing on private property, cooperate with safety patrols, obey the bus drivers, remain seated on the bus, and talk quietly. Please have your child arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled pickup time. Kindergarten students must be met by a parent, a childcare provider, or sibling in middle or high school. The child will be returned to school if no one is there to meet him or her.
